so it must be the piston size, the thing is that 282 don't fit 14 inch wheels which i want to keep eventually. One solution would be to find thicker 262 discs but then again i would have to find another pad right?

I suggest the solution of Civic CDTi '02-'05, the discs are 260mm in diameter and thickness of discs are 23mm (2mm more than ej9s discs) and you keep the stock ej9 calipers with stock ej9 pads

CTDi civic doesn't have the same pad with ej9s also the calipers are different.
Many people upgrade their brakes with 282mm discs from MG ZR160 and calipers from EK9, HRV, DC2 etc.
The discs in EK9 etc is 282mm and 23mm of thickness but the discs on MG ZR160 have thickness of 25mm but the set up is working.
The only thing that needs is little grinding (1.5-2mm) at caliper brackets (green line on the photo) to not come in contact the caliper bracket and the 25mm discs from ZR160

But in case you don't want to grind the ej9 brackets you can swap calipers from Accord and Preludes (the simple versions, not the DOHC engines) they had 259mm diameter discs and the thickness of discs were 23mm like the CTDi Civic ones.
Or you can swap CTDi callipers with it's own discs that is bolt one set-up.
But in Greece is hard to find CTDi '02-'05 Civics

No unfortunately anyone has not tried as I know.
When I was searching to upgrade my stock size discs I had two options in might CTDi 260mm discs or the bigger MG ZR160 282mm discs.
And because I had already 15 inch rims I chose the bigger discs from ZR160, but in this case I swap also bigger callipers for 282mm discs.
But swapping bigger callipers the stock master cylinder and servo is not enough 100%. The brakes respond little bit slower than stock size ej9 brakes

In the future I want to try the CTDi 260mm discs with ej9 stock callipers, because yet anyone not have tried this set-up.

very helpful info! I am under the impression that the mb series civics must have the set up you describe as they have slightly smaller discs(i think 260) and their pads aren't the same like mine (ej9 262 set up). Can you dig there some more?

Yes the pads between MB civics and Ej9s are different but the discs are exactly the same 262mm.
Also ep2 civic have the same discs with ej9s but different pads
