Re: Shot peening conrods

It depends cause all options have a downside, so you need to chose what's best for your application. If you are using a y8 head u can go with y8 forged pistons but they have a compression height of 29.3 as opposed to 29.5 on our engines. So the piston to deck height won't be zero and you have increa...

Re: vtec problem on mini me

You can check if your solenoid is working using a 12v direct source and see if you can hear it clicking. Also it might be a problem with the mapping of your rom that it could have a very rich spot in that rpm band. Check these two first. Btw vtec works only when moving by default but it can be set t...

Re: Shot peening conrods

it's on their catalogs and website but it doesn't write d13 there but writes as 1342cc under honda. The problem now is finding a piston to go with those rods. The only piston with 29.5mm compression height is from d16a6 but the head design is different that of our engines so it's not a that good opt...

Re: throttle body

I have a similar problem with this but it only happens when the a/c is on. I have the obd1 swap with p08 head, intake manifold and throttle body. I also have the fitv blocked and not connected to any coolant lines. I believe this problem is caused by my rom i'm using that is done using crome free 1....

Re: Checklist for OBD1 Swap (updated with pics and more writing)

A quick question for anyone who knows what does that U-shaped plastic piece of tubing do? The one attached about half way along the inlet pipe. It has no connectors what so ever. Possibly to slow down air flow but I dont see why that would be particluarly usefull.... It's for a Helmholtz resonator ...

Re: short throw kit

i used to have a short shifter from ebay. I would not recommend it as they make the shifting more difficult as you cant engage in gear sometimes if you dont fully push it and requires more force to be applied. In stead of helping you to change gears faster it can cause syncro scratch when you try to...

Re: Piston and rod size of the D14A3/A4/Z1/Z2

Guys I just read on an excel sheet i found on the web that had specs of various d series engines, that the d14z2 has 9.8 compared to 9.1~9.3 for other d14s. According to this sheet the z2 has 138nm of torque while hp is 90 as other d14s. Also this is not the first time I'm seeing someone stating tha...

Re: Where is the TA sensor on D16Y8 intake manifold

You either have air in your coolant or your water pump isnt working. I once fiddled with a CRV with similar problem of yours. Checked fan switch, Termostat, engine coolant temperature, temp sensor for the gauge cluster and car had no air in the coolant. Came out to be the water pump which had rusted...

Re: Mini-me Swap - Need Help

Finally, i had time to take apart the rocker assembly. Problem was with the pins in the rockers that slide to lock for vtec lobe use. The one in 1st and 4th would go into the hole with the spring but wouldn't come out. Cleaned them with some brake cleaner, sanded them down a tad and the problem is g...

mynameisowen wrote:I see, that it was a gear change. What gear are you normally in on a dyno then?
the one closest to 1:1 ratio. that's 4th on our cars which is somewhere around 0.91:1 iirc. fifth gear is way big overdrive at ~0.7 for economy purposes.
