Re: Hybrid gearboxes. In search of the perfect gear ratios.
the two gearbox variants we have here a first gear ratio of 3.23 [42 and 13 teeth on the big and small cogs]. US gearboxes seem to have 3.25 [39 and 12 teeth]. do you have the tooth count for your gearboxes Saxophonias?

Re: Overheating after BHP Increase
About the overflow issues it seems as long as i blast within gears 1,2 and 3 since the 1.3bar cap upgrade seems to be keep it all in place. Boosting in 4th gear and getting past 90mph its when it all starts to very quickly spill out. sounds like the head is lifting under load and leaking cylinder p...

Re: Hybrid gearboxes. In search of the perfect gear ratios.
thanks for the picture Betek. the cog on one of the shafts can be changed to alter the gear ratio but it is limited. the cog needs to have a different number of teeth while having the same diameter as the one it is replacing and needs to mesh properly with its counterpart on the main shaft. this is ...

Re: Hybrid gearboxes. In search of the perfect gear ratios.
Saxophonias, 2nd gear is solid with one of the shafts [I don't remember whether it is the primary or secondary shaft] along with 1st and reverse from what I've seen. so you cannot change 2nd without changing 1st and reverse along with it.

Re: D13Y8
If you are going to replace a gearbox read the right topics in order to be sure. The d14a4 box isn't the perfect one but it can be if you swap the 4.4 fd and the 4rth gear from d14a8. A good solution is the d13b gearbox of civic egs too. I did do a lot of research on the topic of gearboxes. was run...

Re: D13Y8
ok so it's normal weight, normal tyres (a bit wide) maybe the speedometer confuses me. As for the time laps of the magazine, they refer to real speed not the km you see on the speedo. Also bear in mind that the d14a4 engines have the loooooong 4rth gear and they are underpowered in comparison to yo...

she's getting quicker! comparison with a 1.5 VTEC with a FFE [blue curve]. http://gearheads.in/attachment.php?attachmentid=102555&d=1346260331&thumb=1 ... and a video. the rev limit is 7500 RPM. that is when the CEL comes on. the tacho and speedo are inaccurate. http://www.youtube.com/watch?...

Re: Overheating after BHP Increase
slow down Jangz. you need to troubleshoot instead of guessing wildly. there are tons of resources around that show you how to identify a possible head gasket leak. try them out. also, if it helps any, I have *slight* heating issues myself. when I drive normally, everything is fine. but when I apply ...
