Re: Emmision troubles
Hi Joris. Don't ever forget the mantra "common things happen commonly". We all know how tough and reliable every aspect of a Honda engine is. Indeed it is this quality that makes them go far further than most others and also means that piston rings and valve guides (which are wear items) a...

Re: Supercharger model
Well guys you have certainly got my attention! Any "outside the box" concept is where the fun is. As you have heard me say before "any idiot can build/buy a fast car by spending lots of money" Using your own intellect/skill gives real joy.

Re: erratic overheating
Hi Tom. The air, more correctly fuel/exhaust/air vapour, pockets I described are not there and stuck waiting to be bled out. They are constantly re-created by pressure leakage from a cylinder(s). Everything is hunky dory one minute then suddenly the temp gauge goes off the scale. You stop the car wa...

Re: erratic overheating
If it is overheating and the fans sometimes do/don't come on I strongly suggest that you go back to my earlier post about air pockets in the coolant circuit. When the temp sensor is in overheated water it shows on the dash temp gauge as too hot. When there is no water near the sensor it will give an...

Re: non power steering
I've already got myself some nice lightweight wheels and reasonable tyres, 195/50 x 15. One thing I do know from my years of owning and running trucks is that correct steering geometry is essential for non-power steering. Small changes in toe-out/toe-in make a huge change in steering effort. So on b...

Weight reduction
I am about to put my EJ6 on a radical weight loss program, before I take the gas axe to it, does anyone know the best way to lose weight? Without extreme measures what is reasonably the lowest weight achievable?

Yes, thank you, as nice as a very nice thing indeed Now comes the hard part, making all the parts from different engines/sources work in harmony. Wish me luck

Re: D14A3/A4 versus D14A8
Finally managed to put some hours in today on my EJ6. It now has a D14A4 bottom end with a P2A head and fast road cam and a much improved IM (thank you to Mr Pardizzle). I've retained the original throttle body from the D16Y7 so that, for the moment I can retain my ECU. The issue now is to sort out ...

Re: D14A3/A4 versus D14A8
There are some 8V engines for applications such as the Jazz and Logo but as far as I am aware all more recent Civics are 16V. Somebody has offered me a 1992 CRX with a DOHC D engine that is in solid condition. He wants £1500, I'm very tempted.

Re: erratic overheating
That's the spirit! When you have removed the head get it pressure tested and checked for true, remember there is a tolerance on distortion - don't assume it needs skimming. Thoroughly clean the threaded holes for the head bolts and fit the best gasket you can buy. Torque down the bolts in the given ...
