Joris, it sounds like the ECU is running the engine rich. have you tried repeating the test with a little bit of timing advance? are you running this engine on a stock ECU or a remapped one? any chance of gathering some AFR readings from a wideband sensor?

you can't see the looped rack but the missing pump and reservoir should be clearly evident.

correct. that way the fluid can still circulate. if you simply disconnect the PS belt without looping the inlet and outlet, the static pump blocks fluid circulation, increases resistance and makes the steering harder.

for those who are interested in deleting their PS setups, here is how I did it: 1. trace the PS fluid hoses back to the steering rack and locate the inlet and outlet. 2. disconnect the hoses near the rack and loop the inlet and outlet using a U shaped rubber hose. try to fill up the hose with as muc...
