Some of the late 98 prefacelift civics also had 262 discs.

Great mods but that also comes with a great downside ,the rear end will lift off the ground more easy and it might slide off .The braking distribution is way off cause you have drums in the rear and big brakes in the front.
Proper way to do this would be 240 disks in the rear and 280 disks in the front .Or 260 rear and 280 front. Or 240 rear and 260 front.
In most cases you'll have more then enough braking power with 260 in the front with grooved disks ,aftermarket brake pads and stainless steel brake lines.

If you want to do it right and pay a bit more, like hondaNickx says, check out this site:

http://www.funkypower.co.uk/catalogue.p ... CIVIC&man=

select your model of civic, go to braking system and browse 8-)

I personally would not modify front to larger discs and leave rear drum, could end in disaster if you tried to stop very quick in emergency

No it is impossible to keep your calipers (262mm) with discs 282mm.
You need calipers from itr-hrv-crv(mk1)-prelude vtec-nsx and some accords vtec ('90-'00)
