Not many, but it depends from driving style in any case.

Below are the specs from Honda HR-V 2WD.
The most close ratio gearbox from any other D series gearbox.
But it doesn't fit at ej9s because the changing mechanism is with cables.

Transmission gear ratio
1 speed 3.500
2-speed 1.956
3-speed 1.344
4-speed 1.071
5-speed 0.812
Final Drive Ratio 4.562

Ah I always wondered if it could fit... perhaps the gears can be interchanged?

I don't think you could swap anything from that. The engines are the same ones as used in the Civic EP1 EP2 EM2 they also work with cable transmissions.Gearbox is different i don't know about the gears themself but it's easier to just get CRX D16a9 3th and 4th (1.346 and 1.033) and swap those in .Those are easier to find too then a HR-V gearbox.
2nd gear can't be swapped out anyway ,only the final drive would be something interesting.

The largest oem D-series Final drive at the moment is the D13 final drive of 4.4 so that 4.5 final drive would be something special.
Mfactory also makes 4.5 4.7 and 4.9 final drives but those are expensive.
Quote from Endyn:"The combustion chamber is a better shape than the DOHC.So don't chunk those 1.6 SOHC engines, they can make really good power. For a pure performance application, regardless of application, I'd choose the SOHC. No bull!"

About the engine of HR-V are more close to our D series 96-00 rather than EP ones.
The countershaft from hrv is the same with the CRV 1st gen (B-series) (OEM part number 23220PBW000)
Also have some same gears 2,3,4 and synchronizers  and same gear ratios
It seems like that the hrv gearbox is strong enough like the B-series gearboxes and also short
HRV gearbox is undercover B-series transmission in D-series case :)
