But then the distance between 3rd and 4rth will be wide, meaning that revs would drop somewhere like 5000rpms. Now the distance is minimal at 5800 when i shift at 7000 from 3rd to 4rth. Hi Saxophonias ,yes i will make a video when it stops raining here .Your D14a8 has a really long 2nd and 3rth gear! You can tell the 4th gear is shorter .
I recently bought a "A9" (similar to a s40,and you d14a8 gearbox ) gearbox from a civic Mb 5doors (1.5vtec-e) and that also has that 0.937 4th gear which is slightly shorter then a regular 0.909 4th gear from a Ej9 transmission. You could swap the 2nd and 3th gear over but you need to take the entire mainshaft from the EJ9 gearbox and swap the 2nd and 3th gear from the ej9 over into the d14a8 transmission. You also need to swap over the 2nd and 3th from the countershaft .They always go in pairs (mainshaft and countershaft gears.) Also when you are swapping the mainshaft over into another case you need to re measure the clearance of the mainshaft in the new case ,and perhaps change the shim thickness.

Made a video this evening , too bad the video is a little too dark but you can see the needles moving.
Seems like 0-100 is in about 8 seconds.
According to the latest dyno i did several months ago i currently have 115hp .
I'll make a new video in daylight when i have the chance.

Edit : made a new video during the day ,too bad i couldn't do a start from complete stand still because of oncoming traffic.
