Do you know whether the steering pump from an ek9 would fit our ej9? Does it matter if it is from a right hand drive or not? I have heard that it gives less power assistance so makes the steering heavier. Could it be this?

I think you mean the steering rack rather then the oil steering pump.
Type-r rack has less turns lock to lock afaik.
Pump from right hand drive would have to have different brackets but besides that i don't think there's much difference.

There is a way to have a little bit heavier steering wheel with adjustment of steering rack gearbox.
The adjustment can be made of the nut that is on gearbox, it is for steering wheel play but if we tighten little the small nut then feeling changing to heavier.

We need two wrenches 40mm and 14 or 15mm.
First must be loosen the big nut and then adjustment made from the little nut.

I am not sure, but there might be a flow problem. I actually had the B16B pump for a long time on my EJ1 steering rack. It never felt good, it was always buzzing a little, and after a while the pump broke down.

Now I have a B16A2 pump on the EJ1 and the steering now is lighter and the buzzing/humming is hardly noticeable. This can be due to the fact that I had a pump not matching the rack, or I had non-Honda steering pump oil in it, and the thing just broke down cause of that. The pump oil I don't know which brand it was, not being a Honda oil is just a wild guess... but now it has Honda in it.

At HF we argued it might be that the flow was wrong for the rack perhaps... but well, not sure if that is a real possibility, but wanted to warn you of this. Maybe someone can confirm or counter my story?
