Below are the gear ratios of d16z6 and d14s and comparisson table between them
So you will have a little bit better acceleration

D14A3/4 Z2/3 GEARBOX
1--3,250:1
2--1,909:1
3--1,250:1
4--0,909:1
5--0,702:1

Thanks alot for that reply mate really helped alot. I see the difference in ratios is only in second gear and a difference in the final drive? This makes me think the difference will only be slightly noticable if even in second gear and may not be worth the hassle?

Personally I would prefer to swap a gearbox from D14A6/7/8
it gives more acceleration :)
The good point for d16z6 gearbox is that has stronger differential bearings than d14s and from d16y7

i have always wanted to swap the 2nd and 3rd gears from my old d14a4 gearbox to the d14a8 that i have installed but my mechanic has told me that it cannot be done. Anyone that has actually seen the gearbox opened can verify?

I think it is possible to swap gears from d14a4 to d14a8 gearbox.
They have the same synchronizers and some other same parts
So the difference is at gears and at the final drive set

Part number 23521-P20-315 SLEEVE SET, SYNCHRONIZER (1-2), at the fist picture the number 7
Part number 23623-P4A-305 SLEEVE SET, SYNCHRONIZER (3-4), at the second picture number 7
Part number 23626-PL3-325 SLEEVE SET, SYNCHRONIZER (5), at the second picture number 8

So i was wondering. I came across a s20 transmission from a d15. But now when i see the final is a bit lower...what does this meen? Will it go slower than my original s40 transm? And will it make a difference?
