D16Z6 swap code 41

Post by csas25 »

Hello,

I'm writing to this forum hoping for some help.
Currently I have swapped a OBD1 D16Z6 to a previous D14Z2 OBD2B car. The engine seem to sputter every 1s or so and Im getting a CEL 41 for the O2 sensor.
The car previously had a 4 wire O2 sensor and the OBD1 has a 4 wire. Ive compared the ECU pins and they're exactly the same as the OBD2 variant. How do you diagnose this issue exactly? Ive tried swapping the previous O2 sensor from the D14 motor with no avail

Hey, welcome to the board.

Code 41 is specifically the heating element failing in the lambda sensor. There should be 10-40 Ohm measured over the two pins on the lambda connector opposite of the lip in the 4-pin connector. Usually its the two wires with the same color. Depending on brand it usually is the black pair of wires or otherwise it may be a white pair.

However since you swapped over the lambda both are probably ok, there is a connection issue. Either the one going to PO2H is open or the other one (providing 12V) is open. Check from ECU to lambda if there is a miss wiring.
