from what i have randomly read the majority of answers to this question is to just get a vtec ecu. They say it can be done but they also say it won't work perfectly. Some time ago we were thinking the possibility to add vtec option to a non vtec ecu through a vafc apexi

VAFC is the quick and easy solution.
-setting fuel cards
-VTEC on \ VTEC off

I thought about it, but the prices are comparable with the present ECU OBD1

new Knowlege :D

who have D14 ?)
if u think P3X ecu have 75 and P2Y ecu have 90... I have to disappoint you. they are identical. it's just a new version, less mistakes. P3Y posed as a 75 and a 90 horsepower engine. Do not overpay extra money for 90 P3Y)

P3X = P3Y

Nice find.
But from which facts you made this conclusion?

As I know Civics 1.4i have P3X and Civics 1.4is have P3Y ecus.
Both ecus have been made from same year 1996. So I don't think that the P3Y is the newer better version of P3X.

I am thinking that because some 1.4i have 75hp and some others 90hp the P3X ecu have been made to work with both horsepowers (?)
At 75hp the throttle body gasket has restriction at 90hp no restriction, so that's why made the P3X ecu(?)
On the other side Civics 1.4is all have 90hp so the P3Y ecus are made only to work with 90hp (?)

37820-p3y-G01 manual

and i find in catalogs, some models, where this PN in 1.4i with 75hp gasket. and!
i find some models where p3x in 90hp cars.
