Dropping idle

Post by BETEK »

I notice last 2 months that when running the car and I am putting at neutral from any gear the idle drops for a second at 200 rpm.
After if have neutral in gearbox the idle goes at normal revs.
Especially when the air-conditioner works the problem appears more often.
What it can be the problem?

The idle valve does not pick up fast enough... there is a screw by which you can feed some more idle air to it on the TB. But it is a common symptom, in my case often triggered due to my engine tuning.

I tried the idle valve but did't appear a solution for the problem. :(

I always fiddle with the ECU tuning to get it right  .

Mabey the EACV is sticky.
That way the ECU can't let air in.
If it's the EACV it's easy to fix.
Take the EACV of and spray the inside with WD40.
let the WD40 stay there for some minutes, poor it out.
Put the EACV back where it came from and it should be fixed.

ECU learns the idle settings after a reset and perhaps even on the long run.

i dont suppose anyone had found a solution to this? I too have had the problem since IM swap and it feels like its getting worse, it actually died down to a stall today :( before it was ignoreable

you said something about ECU relearning the idle, maybe cause i unplugged the batteyr for a while it reset and ECU needs to learn it again?
