Bad oil leak

Post by mynameisowen »

Okay guys I got myself a pretty bad oil leak at the moment. It's been going for a while now but its accelerated quite a lot now. I brought a 5L bottle of cheap oil two weeks ago and its already almost empty =/

I'm pretty sure the leak is below the rocker cover as its dry all around it and I've never removed it. I'm going to have a serious check tonight but I dont have a perticularly good jack. Has anyone got any ideas as to what to check??

I'm thinking:-

* Oil filter (but its pretty hard to check)
* Oil drain hole (doubt it would leak this badly)
* Sump gasket (
* Worst case: crankshaft oil seals (fingers crossed its not)

Bad news :(
For checking under the car, just lift left front side of car with car jack and remove the wheel then you can see/check sump plug and maybe the oil filter area too

Update: I've checked under the car thoroughly and it appears to be the oil filter. It's managed to leak all under the bottom of the car but it seems to be coming from there. I've replaced the oil filter now so hopefully no more leaking :) Fingers crossed :?
