Problem with immobiliser

Post by saxophonias »

About a year ago i tried to start the engine and i saw that the green indication of the immobilizer (showing a key) was flashing. The engine wouldn't start of course. I thought it was the key, but the same happened when i used the second one. After a couple of minutes i managed to start the engine without problems. The same happened after a couple of days and actually the problem disappeared until today. The engine started the second time i tried. A friend of mine with a MB2 civic had the same problem. He told me that it is something with the immobilizer but in Honda service they couldn't find anything.
Do you have any similar experiences?

Simillar experience but in an Alfa 156. It was from the key though.
Imobiliser can be removed or replaced. It should be easy to find in the Junkyard. Try to diagnose the car. cheers

Not entirely, you have double immobilizer and one part still remains (but honestly I don't want to dig to deep into those things, don't want the wrong people to read/know it.)

I'm honestly quiet happy I still got part of the immobi.

Don't tempt me man

Joris, it happened again, the engine started in second try :(
I have to look into that. Do you have any ideas on what is needed to be repaired? The ecu doesn't read any problems or error codes. If a datalogging is possible via honda tester will i be able to diagnose anything?

I am afraid the sending unit is dying slowly on your car or so, just guessing.

Dealership should be able to read/reprogramme everything on those things. Up to complete new key system...

Today my sponsor had a car that wouldn't start at all like you Polivias. Immo unit died probably. Replaced everything with another matching set and it worked again.

How many km did it have? I didn't face any problems from that day on. The same had happened again aprox. a year ago.
Did your friend use a used immobiliser from another car? If this is the case then apart from the unit you need 2 new keys and all the locks (ignition, doors, trunk) Is this cheaper to buying a new immobiliser?
