Rubber has a low heat absorbtion rate. Aluminium is very high, but its also light. This is a civic though, gold coating sounds a bit extreme!! Awesome idea though, is it used in racing or are ceramics used?

It is also used in racing ,i recently saw some GT3 porsches that have got gold intakes .You can also use Gold reflective Wrap . DEI makes and sells that gold wrap.Gold coating isn't expensive for such small part.Ceramic holds the heat in and is generally used on exhausts and headers.
