Yes it wont throw you that particular error with OBD1.

What happens is with OBD2b that both lambda signals are compared. Once they start going rich and lean too much together the ECU will throw the error. There should be a difference between the 2 or the cat is not working properly... which I think is quite bullshitting with the function a lambda sensor was made to do... maybe having 2 different brands of lambda can already prevent the code from being thrown?

You spoke about OEM EK9 muffler that takes out the noise.

Since I removed the original exhaust at the rear end.
I kept a borla exhaust - no catalyst no convertor. Simple open long big muffler.
I wouldnt call it a muffler but its a round open stainless steel pipe at the rear of my car
Called borla exhaust. It gave me 3-5hp. But it makes alot of nice noise . The car feels happy and not choked.
Its more relaxed.

Saxo spoke about an exhaust silencer detachable one
A bit faster... Back pressure maybe...
Interesting.
I still have no headers though iam still on stock .
But hey saxo u also mentioned about 200 cell race cat.

Hondanick suggested custom hytech header & exhaust.
But he said that the pipes should be a true line very straight all the way down.

Interesting topic.
