If you asking me. The oil that I use is 5W/40 Zic.
It is not well-know brand but I think is good oil.
I had tried 3-4 brands in the past, the worst oil consumption had Motul.

EJ6 D16Y7 178,000 miles = 285,000 km. Suffering from high oil consumption because of valve reccession. LPG makes for hot exhaust valves, over time they fail to seat properly and oil gets pulled past the stem seals. That's why I'm looking for a temporary engine while I build something clever! :geek: I did once own a Ford Cargo truck that I got past 1,000,000 km. Same engine but 3 gearboxes.

The easy answer is yes! Valve reccession is an issue with all engines running LPG. Some have real problems, most don't. Hondas are very good at handling LPG, particularly if you fit a valve lube system. It must be remembered however that this is a gradual wear problem - not a catastrophic fail event. My D16 has run 150,000 miles over 9yrs on gas it is only now I have a problem. But do the maths:- 150,000 miles = 6,000 gals (27,000ltrs) of petrol at UK prices today = £36,500 (44,000 euro?). If you Know where to look you can buy LPG @ 45p per ltr. That is a saving of £24,000 - I think that's worth the price of a head rebuild! :ugeek:

Yea I remmember being told about the valve lubrication problems of using LPG. Is it basically that because you are using a fuel with a lower density (i.e. mass flow rate over valve's is lower) it has less of a lubrication/cooling effect on them as opposed to petrol??

What was the cost of installation on your car?
