At the threshold of the holidays, I started thinking about all the change that is possible in our motor. Potential opportunities, the price increase.

in this thread I would like to collect as much information (tips and hits) that could change, set to take effect. write their results, what is up. for example, recently I learned that if you increase the size of the strip, between the intake manifold and the engine is less than the collector is heated, so the air is colder.

user lakaiD14 told me about Coated Pistons, it is I do not quite understand. itself and the effect of too =) still in his topic are discussed. I hope he gets his 150 bHP. but for now I'll start writing a list of improvements, and comments to it.

PS. I can not write about a manual gearbox, since I do not know what it is (I 4AT). if you tell me what makes a particular change in the box, I think it may help the overall development.

And I think we have to start with the motor D14A3 and not the A4.

result: we now D14A4 90Bhp, with a gain of 15 bHP.

#replacement fuel injectors and fuel ramp (190cc -> 240cc)

#replacement and tune up ECU, point Vtec and fuel table.
---STOCK ECU EJ9 (96-98) it not realy OBDx (1 or 2), it Simple Fuel Injection.
with this ECU, Fuel Injectors work in a Pair: 1-4 and 2-3.

when you swap to realy OBDx (1-2ab) you will have PGM-FI, individual injection to each cylinder.

= total: 120 bHp

power: 92 KW > 6500rpm
torque: 144 5200> 5200rpm
Compression: 9.4:1

---you haven't VTEC but u have DOHC!

power: ??? internet say about good lowest acceleration ~ total 120BHP.

What about the D16A8 / D16A9? DOHC and it produces 130 - 137bhp. What be cool to see if someone swapped this head. They come in lots of cars in Europe and for some reason is some rovers in uk, has the DOHC ever been done on a D14 yet?

As I know, in this forum nobody swapped head from D16a8/9/ZC to D14 block
But yes DOHC D14 will perform great and the dual camshafts give lots of settings-options about valve timing

Ahhh thanks for the info, I would rather stick with the 14 block, the idea of having dohc is very tempting however the howl of vtec is just as tempting.

Just swapping the head is virtually impossible due to misalignment issues. Btw please introduce yourself in the appropriate section, the newbies corner.
