have had the opportunity to test this when I was replacing the cylinder head. Unfortunately I was not keen on the work and was unable to verify 100%.
i just want get maximum from stock D14 with minimum replacement.
Today in Russian forum one person said that the D14 is the setting - antituning i think it not, becouse 130-140 bhp for litle car with 1.4 litre it really good. i mean it REALY cool. i know it's not K24 but it 130 bhp with vtec. many cars today have big massa and 101-120 bhp. i think it's no good.
and i thing it's realy tuning. becouse you work with engine and you know how to do it.
when i start my EJ9 project in Russian Site many people ask "How to do it? i want it too!". D14 good motor for start, and 120 bhp for stock not finish. maybe my idea litle stupid, but if many people want do it, i think idea must be live.

Well I had similar discussions over here about 9 years ago. And indeed, everybody can swap a bigger engine, but getting more power from a stock engine is what I call tuning. And you actually learn things doing so.
And to put it very simple, most people know me because my D14 work. That I got a much quicker B16B aside it... who cares actually?

as far as i have seen over the years i think a d14 can reach 130ps with stock cam, good intake and exhaust mods, and a great chipped obd1 ecu. We have also seen that the stock cam can be productive some revs above the rev limiter which is an indication that the cam is agressive enough to reach 130 or maybe some more.

OK. I said a year ago about the development of electronic my own ECU. I will continue, slowly but I will. the main thing that was interesting.

with very, very very bad piston rings and exhaust i have reached 122bhp and 148 Nm of torque on dyno with my D14 (ask dodo bizar....)
the setup on that time was:
IM swap
obd1 swap
adjustable cam gear
megan racing header
and flowed head.
for my current setup what i'm building on the moment i will be able to reach 150/160 bhp without vtec on a D14 but i have done a thing or 2 on my engine
see the forum page 150 bhp D14 engine somewhere on this site

jepz tuned it with eCtune.
the only problem of our beloved D14 setups with obd1 upgrades are running a little rich, because of the slightly to big injector size (240cc)
but better to rich then to lean
the eCtune guy tells me that u can tune your engine with the adjusted fuelmaps or fuel pressure regulator but not both......

Ilya has been suggesting, in another topic, that we could run 190cc if using a D16 basemap. It would scare me. On general D14 with OBD1 conversions non-VTEC gets out 120 bhp, almost same as the D16, giving it 190cc injectors to breath really introduce the risk of running lean and detonating in my opinion.
Our D14's with a bit of work can really breath good... making the requirement for fuel.
