use better pads for starters. 262mm won't fit in a 13inch wheel

Yes it is worth to paying for aftermarket pads discs for 13'' wheels because in short time they will be crooked.
If you want to put bigger discs you will need new knuckles to support the new calipers (bigger).
First step for improving the brake system is to put the discs with 262mm diameter and high pressure brake hoses. Then to swap rear discs.

when i get home in a few days i will clarify which ferodos i have as i have a used part lying in my
garage. FDB 776 are bigger but they maintain the same shape. ej9 civics with the 262mm must have fdb 776 if i am right

I think I actually had the 776 once...

And I see I need to correct myself. Though years ago my garage claimed VTi pads did not fit, my latest refit I did myself. I ended up with OEM EK4 pads being a perfect fit and braking excellent for street purposes. So 262 calipers on my EJ9 are equal to EK4.

Now the EK4 pads were indeed slightly bigger than the previous aftermarket Delphi pads I had... but I've been told this might be that I actually had gotten Rover pads or something alike. And yes with the slightly bigger pads I was worried first they might get stuck or anything, but when you put them in nicely you still can do with two fingers never mind the tight fitment.
